Active Flag
The Department of Education and Skills wishes to recognise schools that strive to achieve a physical educated and physically active school community by awarding them an Active School Flag. Clonbonny N.S. intends to work towards achieving this flag by implementing changes that will have real and tangible benefits. you will hear your child talking about increased activities in school as we strive towards becoming a more physically active school. Mrs Jacqueline Nevin and Ms. Caitriona Lynam are co-ordinating the School Active Flag and will be forming a committee of children and parents. Any parents who are interested in being part of this active School committee should contact Mrs. Nevin or Ms. Lynam.
Green Flag
Green-Schools, known internationally as Eco-Schools, is an international environmental education programme, environmental management system and award scheme that promotes and acknowledges long-term, whole school action for the environment.
Unlike a once-off project, it is a long-term programme that introduces participants (students, teachers, parents and the wider community) to the concept of an environmental management system.

The first flag we received was the litter and waste flag. Here we identified how much rubbish we produce and found successful ways in which we could reduce this .
Our second flag, the energy we achieved by reducing our energy consumption both at home and in school.
We are currently working on our third flag, the water flag . So far we have carried out surveys to find out how much water we use on a daily basis. We are currently working to see if our suggestions will see a reduction in our water usage.
