Clonbonny National school is situated about 3 miles from Athlone town, about a half a mile from the Michael Moore Garage on the Old Dublin Road. We are a small country school with 118 children . We cater for boys and girls from infants to sixth class. Our principal is Ms Joan Donnelly .

Students Council 2019/2020
A huge thank you to the Parents Association in particular Aoife Claffey , who has provided us with badly needed P.E. equipment from funds raised by the recent rugby jersey raffle . We will all have an active start to the New Year.

Our Sensory Garden
We are delighted with our Sensory Garden here in Clonbonny. It has a variety of plants with different texture and smells and the children have really enjoyed smelling , touching and learning about them . We hope it will increase bio-diversity around the school by attracting bees and insects of all kinds . We are awaiting a bug hotel and some chimes for this area also .
A huge thanks to Anne- Marie Golden ( Joe, Julia and Dan's mum) our project leader . Also to Pat Donohoe ( Ms. Donohoe's dad ) and Liam Broderick for making the fabulous raised beds . And finally to Kathleen Earl ( Cian and Lucas granny ) and her sister Anne for their great gardening knowledge.

24/5 We have 5 lovely chicks !
22/5 There was great excitement in 1st and 2nd class today so far we have 2 eggs hatching .
1st and 2nd class are eagerly waiting for their chickens to hatch from the incubator . We are hoping to have our first chicks our on Wednesday next the 22nd of May . Any updates will be posted here .

Hut Building Season in Clonbonny
Gardening in Clonbonny .
We are on our second season of growing fruit and vegetables here in Clonbonny. Our polytunnel has been a fantastic addition to our school and the children are learning so much from using it . We would like to thank Justin Claffey ( Evin and Laoise's dad) for giving us the land on which the polytunnel is on and also Ollie Galvin ( Sean, Paddy, Eddie and Orlaith's dad) for providing us with a water tank . We all here are most grateful .
Work is shortly going to begin on our sensory garden . We will keep you posted on all developments as soon as they happen .
